The Disaster Management Cell established at Anna Institute of Management, Chennai, in the year 1995. The Disaster Cell is constructed adjacent to the Main building.
The DM Cell has the mandate to serve as a Nodal Agency for imparting training at the state level for matters related to disasters , undertaking studies and develop database in the field of disaster management and actively liaise with state Relief Commissioner Viz. Commissioner of Revenue Administration and Disaster Management Department.
The DM Cell is funded by GOI form the SDRF under the direction and guidance of Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
A GIS and Remote Sensing lab has been established in the year 2013 which is dealing with various projects including Hazard, Vulnerability and Risk Assessment, State Disaster Management Plan, Standard Operating Procedures for Natural Disasters, etc.
The GIS and Remote Sensing lab is also utilized for “Hands on Experience” in Disaster Vulnerability and Risk Map analysis and Disaster Management Plan preparation activities in the regular Disaster Management training programmes.
The GIS and Remote Sensing Lab is functioning at the Main Building.
